Shocking Pink Dragon Millipede

2017

Pencils on A4 Paper
21 x 30 cm

The Shocking Pink Dragon Millipede (Desmoxytes purpurosea) can measure up to 3 cm, and it was formally discovered in Thailand in 2007. Anni dislikes critters with long legs, so she drew it to desensitize herself (after all, it’s not the millipede’s fault if people think it’s ugly, right?) The millipede is not only ugly (or beautiful) to look at, it’s very dangerous: it can shoot cyanide! Also, due to the production of said chemical, the millipede smells like almonds.

The color pencils used for this work are Caran d’ Ache Luminance 6901 (which retain coloration well) and the paper is acid-free, 180g Canson.
