Northern Kelp Crab

Pencils on A4 Paper
21 x 30 cm
The Northern Kelp Crab (Pugettia producta) can be found in the Pacific Coast, and its carapace can reach a maximum size of 9.3 cm. While Anni was camping in Canada she saw many of them, finding the big ones scary and the small ones cute (lifting a rock would send many small crabs into a frenzy to hide under another rock). The color of the crabs depends on the type of algae they consume, a feature that helps them camouflage in the environment they reside.
The color pencils used for this work are Derwent, and the paper is acid-free, 180g Canson.
